Though it seemed as if Zoe Aggeliki would portray the character of Johanna Mason in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, it appears that reports of her casting were a little premature.  Rather, it turns out that Jena Malone is now set to play the role.  Details below.

Some context:  Over the past few weeks, the search was on for the young actress who could play Johanna Mason in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.  Eventually, news broke that Catching Fire director Francis Lawrence had whittled the choices down to Jena Malone and Zoe Aggeliki, with both actresses auditioning for the roles.  Word then slipped that Aggeliki was already involved in advanced talks to play the character, which led everyone following the story to assume she had been cast.

Not true, according to /Film, who reported today (via The Hollywood Reporter), that Malone was actually offered the part, and is now in talks to take on Johanna Mason, a role that will also “carry over to the third film in the series.”

Malone made her film debut in 1996’s Bastard Out of Carolina, and later appeared in such films as Contact, Stepmom, Donnie Darko, Saved!, Pride & Prejudice, Into the Wild, The Ruins, Sucker Punch, and recent Hatfields & McCoys miniseries.

Do you think Jena Malone would make a good Johanna Mason?
