Breaking Bad fans, right now is about the time that your yearly ulcer should begin expanding once again—it’s time for yet another season of Breaking Bad to begin. And with a new season comes another late summer of watching ex-chemistry teacher turned drug manufacturer for the American southwest, in what has become both television’s best current program and its most unnerving. And now you can watch the first post-credits scene from the upcoming fifth season premiere, which takes place immediately after season four’s shocking conclusion. SPOILERS AHEAD.
The scene apparently takes place very shortly after the fourth season finale, in which Walter White (Bryan Cranston) assassinated Gustavo Fring, his drug baron boss and the man who would have murdered Walt and his entire family. In the new scene, Walt reunites with his estranged family, and tries to appear nonchalant about the news of Fring’s death. You can view the clip here.
Entertainment Weekly points out that this is not the cold open of the first episode, but is rather the first post-credits scene. The mag goes on to note that pre-credits cold open may be the most shocking season open since season two, which hinted at the airplane collision that took place directly over Walt’s home as his wife discovered his involvement in the drug world.
Breaking Bad’s fifth season premieres on July 15th.
