Quentin Tarantino and Jamie Foxx appeared on the BET awards on Sunday night, and brought with them a new 60 second teaser for Tarantino’s eighth film (ninth if you count his Four Rooms segment), Django Unchained. The new spot features a remix of Ennio Morricone’s famous “The Ecstasy of Gold” from The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly, as well as a few new shots of Samuel L. Jackson’s character in the film. Check it out below.
No major spoilers to look out for, or anything to ruin your expectations of the film, which makes the ad something of an anomaly in 2012—imagine that, an ad that doesn’t actually ruin the entire film for you!
Django Unchained concerns the story of Django (Foxx), an escaped slave, who teams up with a bounty hunter (Christoph Waltz), to rescue Django’s wife from villainous plantation owner Calvin Candie (Leonardo DiCaprio). Tarantino has described the film as his spaghetti western, but is set in the Civil War-era deep south. The film co-stars Kerry Washington, Don Johnson, Garrett Dillahunt, Walton Goggins, RZA, M.C. Gainey, Dennis Christopher, Gerald McRaney, Laura Cayouette, Don Johnson, Tom Savini, and James Remar.
Django Unchained is set for a Christmas 2012 release.
