Vin Diesel took to his Facebook page recently and shared a new still from the upcoming film Riddick, the third film in the live action Riddick series (following 2000’s Pitch Black and 2004’s The Chronicles of Riddick). Further, he discussed watching the first cut of the film in the editing bay, and proceeding to make strange growling noises. Really. Read on.
“You know I like to let you in on things, even before Hollywood knows… “Haha… Last night I was invited in to the editing room, to see the first cut of the new Riddick… WOW!!! P.s. I was so affected/excited… I couldn’t sleep. GRRRR!!!”
Yes, Riddick fans, GRRRR. I think that means he’s happy, right? That’s Diesel for ‘happy’?
Riddick, which filmed from January to March of 2012 and entered postproduction in April, is set for a 2013 release.
The film, written and directed by David Twohy, finds the anti-hero Riddick (Diesel) abandoned and left for dead on a “sun-scorched” and apparently lifeless planet. That changes, however when Riddick discovers the planet is populated by alien predators “more lethal than any human he’s encountered.” Riddick then activates an emergency beacon, which unfortunately attracts several mercenaries on the hunt for Riddick himself, including one with a personal beef against our anti-hero. In addition to the aliens and the mercs, Riddick must also face down the approach of a lethal oncoming storm.
So, between alien predator, mercenaries, and now weather, the film is basically Riddick vs. Literally Everything.
