Though showrunner/ creator/ overall reason for the show’s brilliance Dan Harmon will not be returning for Community’s fourth season on NBC, here’s a sliver of good news for still-despondent fans: the entire cast of the beloved cult series will be returning—even the long-complaining Chevy Chase.
Deadline has confirmed that the Greendale Seven principle cast will return (despite Chevy Chase politely noting that he “probably won’t be around that much longer” because he’d rather not be attached to what he feels is a “f*****g mediocre sitcom”), along with such supporting cast members as Ken Jeong and Jim Rash. That’s right: Joel McHale, Donald Glover, Danny Pudi, Yvette Nicole Brown, Alison Brie, Gillian Jacobs, and Chevy Chase will return to the Greendale campus amidst a growing chorus of fans surely to claim that the show wasn’t what it once was now that Harmon is gone (and, sadly, it surely won’t be).
Community is set for a 13 episode (sigh) run this fall, beginning on October 19. The show is now under the stewardship of new showrunners David Guarascio and Moses Port.
The AV Club notes that more details are likely to emerge about season four at this year’s Comic-Con, where there will be a Community panel (minus the “out of town” Chase and the currently touring Glover), in which McHale, Brie, Jacobs, Pudi and Brown will attempt to calm all of our fears about a Harmon-less Community.
Without Harmon, are you still down for six seasons and a movie?
