Is it fair to call 2012′s summer a bust so far? Realistically, Wednesday was the first real day of summer, but movies have been putting out summer blockbusters for nearly two months. One of the brightest spots remaining is The Watch, which stars Ben Stiller, Jonah Hill, Vince Vaughn and Richard Ayoade. And they’ve just released a clip from it. Check it out…

The film comes from director Akiva Schaffer, best known as one of the founding members of The Lonely Island, and often the director of the SNL digital shorts. The film originally wanted to keep its Ghostbusters-esque plot under wraps as it sold the idea of four doofuses wandering around trying to protect their neighborhood, but the Trayvon Martin shooting changed all that, and so now they’re playeingup the alien invasion aspects of the film. This clip, however, shows the gentlemen goofing on each other.

The least known of the four in America is Ayoade, who is well known by comedy nerds for his work on British television shows like Garth Marenghi’s Darkplace and The IT Crowd, and as the director of last year’s Submarine. If the film is a hit, it’s likely he’s going to be getting a lot of attention, because he already looks to be the stealth weapon of the film. The Watch is due out July 27.

What else are you looking forward to this summer that isn’t The Dark Knight Rises?
