It’s funny how movie timing works out. Taylor Kitsch has three movies this year, and if the third one bombs, he will be seen as a curse. Now we’re getting a new trailer for Hotel Transylvania one week after That’s My Boy bombed. But hopefully by September 21, people will want to see Adam Sandler and Andy Samberg reunited.
This trailer plays up the love story of a bored young vampire named Mavis (Selena Gomez), who’s been protected by her father Dracula (Sandler), until a human wanders into his private hotel. The human is voiced by Samberg, and it seems that he and Dracula’s daughter fall instantly in love. Conflict! It’s interesting that the trailers are finally revealing this side of the plot – perhaps it’s not as much fun as the more obvious wacky monster hijinks that have made up the previous trailers.
But perhaps it’s also important to sell the story if Sandler and his friends are coming off a black eye. The main thing that makes this so exciting is that it’s Genndy Tartakovsky’s first major foray into feature filmmaking. Tartakovsky is best know for his work on The Powerpuff Girls and Dexter’s Laboratory, and we can’t wait to see what he does with a feature film. We’ll find out September 21.
Does this trailer sell you?
