As the countdown to the July 20 premiere of The Dark Knight Rises continues, the onslaught of semi-spoilery Dark Knight Rises TV spots marches onward.  Continuing the trend of revealing more and more of the film via TV spots rather than trailers, the newest TV spot features all-new footage of “The Bat” (essentially, the Bat-Plane), Anne Hathway’s Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Bane, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s Gotham police officer.  Check it out after the jump.

Combining a bit of footage we’ve seen before (Bruce Wayne asking Lucius Fox to get him “back in the game”; a bridge being destroyed), most of the 30 second spot is all new.  Gordon-Levitt  notes that Commissioner Gordon has rid Gotham’s streets of crime, Catwoman warns that Bane is coming, and Fox shows off The Bat.  Fun, if not entirely mind-blowing, stuff:

The TV spots certainly seem to be taking a lighter approach to the material than the earlier, more funereal Dark Knight Rises trailers (all of which seem to scream, “Batman is gonna die, you guys”).  Perhaps that’s a reaction to the relative lightness of the hyper-successful Avengers, or simply a different marketing tactic from Christopher Nolan and co.  Either way, count us in on July 20.

That Dark Knight Rises is the final entry into Nolan’s Batman trilogy, and stars Christian Bale, Tom Hardy, Anne Hathaway, and Gary Oldman.

What do you think of the newest TV spot?
