Coming off his role as a grumpy dwarf in Snow White and the Huntsman, Ray Winstone has been offered the villainous role in Darren Aronofsky‘s Noah. Winstone will go up against Russell Crowe, joining a cast that includes Logan Lerman, Douglas Booth and Emma Watson.

When we look at the biblical version of Noah’s story, there’s no clear-cut villain. The weather is perhaps the closest thing we get to “bad guy”. But in Aronofsky’s epic, Winstone’s character is described as Noah’s nemesis. Not much more has been revealed on said character.

Whatever bad guy Winstone might be playing, there’s no doubt that he’ll be excellent at it. The actor has a talent for playing the villain as we’ve seen in films such as 44 Inch Chest, Sexy Beast and The Departed.

Liam Neeson and Val Kilmer were also being considered for the role. Deadline reports that the director wanted someone with the “grit and size to be convincing as he goes head to head against Crowe’s Noah.”

After Winstone it seems the only other key role to cast is Noah’s wife, which has been rumored to be played by Jennifer Connelly, who previously worked with Crowe on A Beautiful Mind.

What do you think? What villainous role do you think Winstone will play in Noah?
