Followers of Simon Pegg’s Twitter feed were treated to an early Easter gift on Friday when the comedic actor Tweeted the new trailer for his utterly bizarre-looking new film, A Fantastic Fear of Everything, a comedy which seems to mash serial killing, children’s novels, artistic anxiety, and Wes Anderson-esque framing into a strange and intriguing whole.  Check out the trailer after the jump.

In the film, directed by Crispian Mills and Chris Hopewell, Simon Pegg plays a “children’s author turned crime novelist whose research into the lives of Victorian serial killers turns him into a paranoid wreck, especially when a Hollywood executive decides he wants to make a film out of his findings.”   Along the way, Pegg’s character appears to devolve into a storybook fantasy world with his therapist.

A Fantastic Fear of Everything is slated for a summer release, and looks to be a darkly comedic alternative to the more generic/bombastic summer movie fare that inundates your average multiplex.  Further, any film that stars Simon Pegg and looks like a strange mish mash of Adaptation, Se7en, and The Fantastic Mr. Fox is worth being excited over.  Watch the trailer here.

A Fantastic Fear of Everything co-stars Amara Karan, Clare Higgins, Sheridan Smith and Alan Drake.
