Katy Perry’s new concert film is in three dimensions and is entitled Katy Perry: Part of Me in 3D (I will not make the obvious joke, I will not make the obvious joke, stiff upper lip, Travis, you can make it through this), and from the new trailer, it seems to be the standard modern rock/pop-doc fare: An artist in the midst of her greatest success is then besieged by personal problems in the press, with flashbacks to her long, arduous journey to the top, and then cutting back to the present, where she resiliently presses onward to even greater success. And then shoots whipped cream from her breasts.
The trailer is bedazzled with Perry’s trademark day-glo bubblegum aesthetic, even as it trawls through such low moments in the pop singer’s life as her failed blink-or-you’ll-miss-it marriage to comedian Russell Brand, or her “struggles” coming up in the world of Christian music, and the fateful day she decided to leave that pious genre behind to, again, shoot whipped cream from her breasts.
Katy Perry: Part of Me 3D will be released on July 5, and documents Perry’s 124-date California Dreams tour, with all live footage coming from Perry’s two-night performance at L.A.’s Staples Center. Check out the trailer, courtesy of Paramount Pictures.
