Perhaps you will recall that, last week, we offered you a glimpse of Len Wiseman’s Total Recall remake via the teaser for the trailer (and that’s a marketing gimmick that hasn’t gotten old yet, not at all). Now, you can check out the full trailer for this most unnecessary of remakes—it starts off as fairly intriguing, and then around the one-minute mark devolves into what looks like a video game rehash of Minority Report, Inception, and the original Recall. View the full trailer after the jump.
The film starts Colin Farrell in the role made famous by Arnold Schwarzenegger in Paul Verhoeven’s 1990 original (itself based on the Phillip K. Dick story “We Can Remember it For You Wholesale”). In the new film, Douglas Quaid (Farrell), pays a company to pump his brain full of false memories of a happy vacation, only to then find his memory wiped and everyone around him stating that he’s a secret agent.
So—is he really Quaid, but overloaded with false spy memories, or is he really a secret agent? You have to watch the movie to find out, which opens on August 3 (though, based on the look of the trailer, you might just be better off reading the short story, or watching the lovably ridiculous Schwarzenegger version).
