It’s going to be a busy week for Avengers fans, as the upcoming action film/comic book adaptation is set to release a new trailer tomorrow, and today we get a new official poster to pour over. It’s a pretty typical 21st century action poster, featuring as it does some obscured Sam Jackson gunplay (a la Bangkok Dangerous), some physics- and depth perception-defying Photoshoppery, and, of course, the ever-present, Michael Bay-approved blue and teal. Check out the full poster below.
Essentially, it looks like the Avengers cast (or rather, the heads of the Avengers cast pasted onto Photoshopped bodies) are hanging around the set of just about every disaster movie made in the past 12 years. In all, it’s more than a little goofy and cliché, and one hopes those are too elements the film won’t contain in overabundance, but it doesn’t exactly instill confidence in the upcoming film.
But hey, that’s just me. Still, it looks cool to see a live action assemblage of Iron Man, Captain America, the Hulk, Thor, Nick Fury, Black Widow, and Hawkeye, even if it is just their heads floating over a series of bodies in an apocalyptic landscape.
What do you think of The Avengers poster? Will you see the film on May 4?
