As any fan of Pee-wee’s Big Adventure will tell you, one of the more ridiculously… ridiculous comic moments of the oddball film is the crushing blow Pee Wee receives when he learns that the Alamo has no basement. You see, Pee-wee thought his beloved (and recently stolen) bicycle was in the basement, but was devastated when a cackling tour guide told him no such basement existed.
Well, it does exist, and on a silly episode of Top Chef: Texas, Pee-wee finally made it into the basement, albeit 26 years later.
On Wednesday night’s episode of Top Chef: Texas, Pee-wee and his famous red Schwinn “delivered an elimination challenge to the competing chefs, who all had their own red Schwinns. Pee-wee recounted his quest for his bike and his horrible realization that the Alamo has no basement.”
And, during his trip to San Antonio to film the episode last August, Pee-wee actually took another tour of the Alamo, and finally got to see the inside of the Alamo Sales Museum. Goofy, sure, but kind of funny/nostalgic at the same time. Dig the video below.
What do you think of the clip? When’s the last time you checked out Pee-wee’s Big Adventure?
