Winter hiatus is coming to an end, which means some of television’s most prominent television shows are returning—we’re looking at you, Mad Men and The Walking Dead—including the dark fantasy drama program Game of Thrones, with the second season premiere hitting HBO on Sunday, April 1st.
And in order to whet the appetite of Game of Throne’s hungry fanbase, HBO has released a moody and dramatic trailer for the upcoming sophomore season, and—ok, I admit it, I’ve never watched Game of Thrones before, so this is total guesswork—in which a little person joins together with various factions of Middle Earth to destroy the One Ring. Do I have that right? That’s this show, right?
In actuality, the clip is narrated by Conleth Hill (who plays Varys), and shows Tyrion (the Emmy and Golden Globe Award winning Peter Dinklage) is “finally ready to play the game.”
And then Elijah Wood makes a squinty sick face for six hours and the whole thing ends, like, seventeen times over the course of 45 minutes, and Andy Serkis doesn’t get nominated for anything. Right? Right?
