VOTD: Matthew Broderick Returns As Ferris Bueller
By Travis Woods
A Ferris Bueller’s Day Off sequel—it’s something fans both deeply long for and are terrified might actually happen. While it would be great to see Ferris again, it’s also likely that a full-length sequel would in no way live up to the excellence of the original. So how to get around such a quandary? Simply hire Todd Phillips, director and writer of The Hangover, nab Ferris actor Matthew Broderick, and make a video teasing Ferris’ return.
And then make it a freaking Honda commercial.
That’s right. Earlier this week, a video was released of Broderick recreating a scene from the original film in a tease that seemed to indicate a sequel was on the way. Check it out below:
However, it appears that this is simply a teaser trailer not for a film, but for a Super Bowl commercial for Honda, which will feature Broderick as Bueller, and pretty much break the heart of every Ferris fan ever.
Oh well, at least it’s not a sequel directed by Phillips, whose Hangover films leave a bit to be desired and come nowhere near the excellence of Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. So view the clip above, and daydream that you live in a world in which such miracles as an awesome Ferris sequel exist.
What do you think of the clip?
