The Amazing Spider-Man poses a simple question: Are you willing to be reintroduced to a character you haven’t forgotten? Director Marc Webb has recast Peter Parker with Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, with Rhys Ifans as the villainous Lizard. We’ll know for sure what audiences make of the film when it hits July 3, but until then, here are the latest images from the production.

Fans were in a bit of a tizzy when this project was announced because it was going to be a reboot of something that wasn’t exactly dead. The big question with the film is “how much time is it going to waste reintroducing us to characters we already know and things that are self-evident?” Are they going to kill Martin Sheen‘s Uncle Ben again so Peter can learn that with great power comes great responsibility?

Though it says little about the film, The Amazing Spider-Man is going for a round of reshoots currently. Often films do pick-ups to make sure they have everything they need, and these are often built into the schedule. How much or little is being tweaked is unknown. What is known is that it opens two and a half weeks before The Dark Knight Rises, and it’s going to have to be really darn good to take the superhero crown from Christopher Nolan and company.
