Dolphin Tale leaped to No. 1 over the weekend, bringing down The Lion King. The family film made a humble return with $14.2 million, while The Lion King dropped to No. 3 with $11.1 million. Brad Pitt‘s Moneyball grabbed the No. 2 spot with $12.5 million. From the new releases on Friday, the cancer comedy 50/50 was the biggest hit. The Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Seth Rogen movie may be critically acclaimed, but it barely managed to place fourth with $8.8 million. The Christian drama Courageous beat-out the new Daniel Craig movie Dream House and Anna Faris‘ new romantic comedy What’s Your Number? Check out the numbers…

There were also some movies out on limited release, including Take Shelter, Margaret and Sarah Palin — You Betcha! Take Shelter, which stars Michael Shannon and Jessica Chastain, earned $56,200; the delayed Anna Paquin and Matt Damon film Margaret brought in $7,500; and the Sarah Palin documentary made $7,400.

Next week there’s two big movies coming into theaters. First there’s the robot boxing movie Real Steel, and also the George Clooney and Ryan Gosling political drama The Ides of March.
