In what may be the best news since the creation of, well, existence itself, /Film has it that Fox is mulling the creation of a channel that would broadcast nothing but episodes of The Simpsons. Seriously—the long running cartoon that will soon air its 500th (!) episode, may get its own network.
Well, maybe, that is.
Or, as The AV Club puts it:
“News Corp. COO Chase Carey recently told an audience at the Bank of America/Merrill Lynch Media Communications & Entertainment Conference (probably less wild than it sounds) that there have been a “number of meetings” regarding the possibility of an all-Simpsons network, noting the responsibility of taking full advantage of a show with “a volume that is unprecedented.” Of course, before any of that could happen, Fox would have to wrap up all of the show’s current long-term syndication deals.”
Ok, so it could be a while before such televised Shangri-La reaches our screens, but still! Even if the show isn’t quite up to the level of quality it used to reach, it would finally save those of us who have to suffer through reruns of The King of Queens just to tune in to a classic rerun of The Simpsons on Fox.
What do you think of The Simpsons news?
