Rise of the Planet of the Apes isn’t giving up easily. The sci-fi thriller clung to the No. 1 spot for a second weekend leaving behind new films like The Help, Final Destination 5 and 30 Minutes of Less. The Tate Taylor 60′s Southern film fell a few million short from Apes, and came in at No. 2 with $25.5 million. Unlike what we predicted, Final Destination 5 was far from the top spot. The horror franchise followed The Help with $18.4 million. The Jesse Eisenberg comedy had a humble opening of $13 million; while Glee The 3D Concert Movie didn’t even break into the top ten. Somethings are just better left on television. Check out the numbers…

The Help hit theaters a couple of days before the other new movies. Had it had the same release date, it would have probably came in at No. 1 because it’s already made over $35 million. And while $35 million is nothing compared to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2‘s opening of $169 million, The Help isn’t getting any help from inflated ticket prices while Final Destination 5 is, and that sequel is not doing too well.
