Fans of vampire camp that are over the age of 12—you guys can keep Twilight—rejoice!  HBO has announced that they are picking up True Blood for a fifth season.

12 more episodes are now set to emerge from the Alan Ball’s vamp show, which is based on the novels of Charlaine Harris.

The fifth season is set to debut next summer, so you’ve got a bit of waiting to do.

The fourth season is currently still airing, and is set to end on September 11th.

According to Entertainment Weekly:

“I remain amazed and delighted by the enthusiasm of our viewers,” said Ball in a statement.  “I can’t imagine having more fun than this.”

So there you have it—vampire obsession continues to permeate all aspects of American pop culture.  But!  As long as it does not involve the blank, lifeless stare of Kristen Stewart or the bizarre bouffant hairdo of Robert Pattinson, I think we’ll be able to handle it.

Ball has stated that True Blood has “a lot of life in it…I love doing it and I don’t really have any plans of doing anything else right now.”

What do you think of True Blood’s renewal?  Are you ready to see a fifth season?
