As we reported last week, one of the few semi-jewels left in ABC’s crown is Desperate Housewives, and that the once-bright show is now being dimmed for a May 2012 series finale.  And while fans of the show can expect to say goodbye to such familiar faces as Teri Hatcher and Eva Longoria, fans shouldn’t expect an opportunity to say farewell to Nicollette Sheridan.

Because her character is, you know, dead.

According to The Clicker, “Desperate Housewives creator Marc Cherry recently hinted that he’d like to see former Wisteria Lane resident Nicollette Sheridan return for the show’s series finale.”

However, Sheridan found that more than a little surprising, seeing as how, again, her character of Edie Britt bit the Big One a while ago.

“That’s news to me.   “I had an amazing time playing that character. I loved her dearly, but they killed her! She’s dead.”

It may also come as a surprise to Sheridan that Cherry is aching to have her back, since Sheridan, you know, sorta kinda sued Cherry and ABC in 2010 for $20 million, alleging not only wrongful termination, but that Cherry assaulted her as well, which kind of makes Cherry’s overture for her character’s return a tad awkward, no?
