While Summit had us for the Twilight Breaking Dawn press conference they decided to intro us to the writers of some of their other up and coming projects. Once of which was the young and vibrant writer, author Veronica Roth from Divergent. Her story for her book sounds quite fascinating about a dystopic future that is divided into five factions: honesty, selflessness, bravery, peacefulness and intelligence. Here’s some of what she had to say…

What was it like to hear that your book would be turned into a movie?

What happened was, the book hadn’t come out yet. I was completely unaware that anyone knew anything about it. My rep told em there was some interest. As time went on, finally it came to the point where I had to know the details and we want to talk about maybe making this happen. It was very exciting and kind of bewildering. You don’t expect this to happen to you when you’re 22. This is not something I ever imagined. I don’t know how things are going to work. I’m a writer, not a film person. I’m happy to let the people who know what they’re doing take care of it.

What about casting? Do you know who you want?

I only know what the characters are like… that’s all I know. Anyone that can pull that off, I’m happy!

Have you or will you work with the screenwriter?

I get to meet him later. I’m happy to help him out!

How did you come up with the four qualities that your society revolves around?

I thought about the reasons that they formed societies. They thought about eradicating flaws will create a perfect society. Bravery, selflessness and kindness. And I thought about what’s missing and that was honesty. I thought about the logic of the world and worked from there.

More coming soon!
