Remember back in March when we told you that the as-yet untitled 23rd Bond film—the third with Daniel Craig as 007—was finally set for a 2012 release with direction from Sam Mendes?  Well, don’t worry, it’s not getting put on hiatus again—but it is getting a pretty auspicious cast.

According to The AV Club, Javier Bardem and Ralph Fiennes will be joining Craig in Bond’s 23rd cinematic adventure:

“Javier Bardem and Ralph Fiennes have both been confirmed to appear in the film, the former as the villain and the latter in an as-yet-unclear role, though when rumors of the Fiennes casting last circulated it was for a supposedly darkly complex role with no precedent in the Bond series… Also relatively new is the news that the character of Miss Moneypenny will return to the series, with Naomie Harris in talks for the role, the latest in a long line of choices that have gone in different directions with established characters.”

So—Javier Bardem as a Bond villain?  Just tell me where to sign up—I’m in.  This is the best thing to happen to popcorn action movies since Nicolas Cage’s hairpiece.

What do you think of the Bond 23 cast?
