It should come as no surprise to anyone that the sixth episode of Game of Thrones, entitled “A Golden Crown,” has lived up to its predecessors and perhaps even surpassed them! The cliffhanger from Episode 5 has led to an all-out war between the Starks and Lannisters, the complex characters within struggling to find their own brand of justice within a skewed system of morals.

We also see the emergence of two notable actresses, who might – even in limited roles – have already put their stamps on the series: Natalia Tena, famous for playing Tonks in Harry Potter, as a Wildling from north of The Wall, and Esmé Bianco as the prostitute, Ros. Both of them made the most of their screen time!

The Good:

  • The Eyrie: A mesmerizing kingdom amid high cliffs, it harkens comparisons to the floating mountains of Avatar. As Tyrion Lannister learns, not only do their prison cells leave wide openings on steep inclines, but justice is served through combat – and the loser is sent “flying” through an opening in the royal floor.
  • Action: Up to this point, the story has placed much of its focus on character development, but inEpisode 6, we get our first true taste of wall-to-wall action (or as a Thrones fan might say, wall-to-sea action). It was absolutely riveting.
  • Dragon eggs: No, these aren’t the dragon eggs Hagrid bought at the Leaky Cauldron, but as we learn in Episode 6, they’re quite valuable. Of course, so is Daenerys Targaryen, the real dragon of the family who proves remarkably impervious to heat – and her brother’s weaseling. .

The Bad:

  • Where’s Jon Snow? Bring the bastard back again, please!
