Director of hyperactive zombies-but-not-really-zombies sequel 28 Weeks Later (the follow-up to 28 Days Later), Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, is set to direct a reboot of The Crow, the 1994 comic book adaptation starring Brandon Lee as a murdered man who returns from the dead to avenge he and his fiancé’s murder (Lee himself was killed accidentally on-set when a gun stunt went wrong).

According to The Hollywood Reporter:

“The reboot of the title has been in the works since 2007, with Stephen Norrington previously attached to direct.

“The story follows a rock musician who is murdered while trying to save his fiancee from thugs. He is resurrected by supernatural forces and seeks revenge.

Nick Cave wrote the most recent draft of the script, though sources say a new writer will be brought on to work with Fresnadillo.”

It’s unfortunate that Cave my no longer be connected to the script, because a Nick Cave-penned adaptation of The Crow directed by the guy behind 28 Weeks Later might be the most insane thing to hit theater screens since… well… ever, really.

There is no set release date for The Crow reboot as of yet.

What do you think of a Crow reboot directed by Fresnadillo?
