Ok, so the internet has been awash in Superman news lately, and today just continuous the trend. The new rumor? That Edgar Ramirez (nominated for a Golden Globe for Carlos) is being considered for the The Man of Steel’s villain, according to /Film.
Now that Superman director Zach Snyder has put the kibosh on rumors that Viggo Mortensen would play General Zod, the casting rumor pendulum has swung over to Ramirez, who has previously starred in Domino, The Bourne Ultimatum, Vantage Point and Che. And, as /Film notes, he has an upcoming role in Clash of the Titans 2, a film so incredibly insipid that we can call it incredibly insipid without even having watched it. Yay elitism!
It is also currently unclear if Ramirez would be in the running for Zod (you know, Terrance Stamp played him back in the day, sculpted beard, frilly frou-frou jumpsuit, the whole “KNEEL BEFORE ZOD” thing?), or if he’d simply be playing another villain. It is also unknown whether or not Ramirez has auditioned for the role, if his name is simply being tossed around. I dunno, I still think that Jude Law has the uncanniest General Zod look going, but what do I know?
Who do you think should play General Zod?
