Because that long-rumored Star Wars live-action TV show that George Lucas mutters about every once and awhile probably won’t feature much Emperor Palpatine/ Darth Sidius, HBO is working to fill that void of unimaginable horror and universe-spanning darkness by offering up a miniseries about Dick Cheney.
According to Deadline:
“HBO has optioned the book Angler: The Cheney Vice Presidency by Pulitzer-Prize winning journalist Barton Gellman for a miniseries to be executive produced by Paula Weinstein.”
Now, please excuse any typos—I’m typing this quickly before any commandos start rappelling down into my windows, dressed in black with giant red “D.C.” logos printed in their backs within the outline of a sneering bald head.
“The mini, which will be based on the bestselling book and the Frontline documentary The Dark Side, tells the story of Richard Bruce Cheney from his early days as Donald Rumsfeld’s protégé in the Nixon administration, to the nation’s youngest Chief of Staff under President Ford, to serving as Secretary of Defense under George H.W. Bush, through two controversial terms as Vice President under President George W. Bush.”
The thrust of the miniseries will be focused around “Cheney’s single-minded pursuit of enhanced power for the Presidency (that) was unprecedented in the nation’s history.”
This should be interesting.
