For fans of the TV show “Community,” the last couple months have been rough, as it was hard to know if the show would get canceled or not. “Community” has struggled in the ratings, but it has a devoted fan-base and a lot of critical support. But such could also be said for a number of shows that were canceled before their time. Recently, when asked about a third season, Danny Pudi said “You guys will know before we do.” Fans of “Community” can now breathe a sigh of relief: NBC has renewed their Thursday night line-up, with “The Office” getting its eighth season, “Parks and Rec” getting their fourth and “Community” their third.
Though Steve Carrell announced that this would be his last year on The Office, there may have been some concern that the show would end with him. But that’s never been a great threat as it is still NBC’s highest ranked scripted show. They will at least give it a chance to die on its own. “Parks and Rec” had its own battles, with the second season being delayed so NBC could try out “Outsourced,” which was a relatively strong performer.
“Community” has been creatively great, but the numbers have never been as high as its fans or NBC would hope. The show is also not so cheap it was assured to survive. Regardless, congrats and “Pop pop!” to cast members Joel McHale, Gillian Jacobs, Danny Pudi, Yvette Nicole Brown, Donald Glover, Allison Brie, Chevy Chase, and Ken Jeong and creator Dan Harmon.
