Battle: Los Angeles debuted at the top of its pack this weekend, making more than any film, including Red Riding Hood and Mars Needs Moms. The thriller generated $36 million, while Red Riding Hood produced just over $14 million, and placed third. Last week we predicted that Rango would place before the new Disney film Mars Needs Moms, and we were right. Rango kept up there (and ranked No.2)  grossing $23.1 million, while Mars Needs Moms bombed grossing only $5 million.

Also new this weekend was the period piece Jane Eyre. Unfortunately the film didn’t make the top 10, but that is most likely due to its limited release. If you find the film to be playing at a theater near you, be sure to watch it. It’s one of the best of 2011, so far.
