After seeing the international character posters for 20th Century Fox’s X-Men First Class, we thought domestic audiences would be in for a treat. The one sheets featured Charles Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr before they became the legends Professor X and Magneto and they looked great! Yesterday evening, the studio decided to release the U.S. versions of the posters and to say they were unsatisfactory would be an understatement. Check them out and tell us what you think…
The overall consensus on the net is that these are bad! The posters could have been created by a 5 year old with PhotoShop. It makes no sense for there to be this much negativity surrounding the promotion of a tentpole movie. Why did other countries get the good stuff and we got a cartoonish cut-and-paste job? Do you think we’re being too harsh?
The Magneto poster looks the worst out of the two. The shadow appears to be a cartoon. There’s no real definition or anything. Poor Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy. We’d be pissed if our faces were superimposed against such a cheesy backdrop.
Fox needs to recall these posters immediately because they’re not doing the film any favors.
What do you think of the domestic poster for X-Men First Class? Are they really as bad as we think?
