We enjoy our stateside television shows but we can’t deny our love of BBC programs. Two of our favorites are “Torchwood” and its predecessor “Doctor Who.” Both are on the verge of new seasons, and both have come across the pond to shoot in the U.S. for the first time in their production’s history. Over at EW, they’ve announced the premiere date for the long running “Doctor Who” and they’ve also revealed a few plot details as well! Check them out…

BBC America will premiere Part One of the “Doctor Who” season opener on Saturday, April 23 at 9 p.m ET. As we stated earlier, this season will make the first time that the series has ever filmed on American soil and as you might suspect the move is plot driven. Here’s the description of the first episode:

“The Doctor (Matt Smith), and his companions Amy (Karen Gillan) and Rory (Arthur Darvill), find themselves on a secret summons that takes them on an adventure from the desert in Utah — right to the Oval Office in 1969.”

“Doctor Who” looks to continue its winning streak this year following its amazing ratings boost last season. The show experienced multiple changes including Smith stepping into the role previously occupied by fan favorite David Tennant.

What do you think of the premiere episode’s premise? Will you tune in to watch?
