The new “ThunderCats” TV series is on its way courtesy of The Cartoon Network. We previously posted the first trailer promoting the show (if you haven’t seen it check it out), which was met with mixed reviews. Some people like the creative liberties the animators have taken with the character design, while others don’t. There’s also a new voice cast and a different tone to the show, that’s a lot different from the original. One of the voice actors who’s featured in the series in the amazingly talented Kevin Michael Richardson (“Family Guy” “The Cleveland Show.”) Richardson recently spoke about the revamped “ThunderCats” team and revealed some info about the leader Lion-O.

While speaking to MTV, Richardson confirmed that Lion-O will be voiced by former “Boys Meets World” star Will Friedle. Don’t get too up an arms about his casting, he’s done some pretty impressive voice work in the past. “Batman Beyond” anyone? Richardson also wants to ease the fears that many fans out there have regarding the reboot.

“The special effects, the direction, and the acting are just superb. So, I must tell you, I love the original and I don’t really like, if it ain’t broke don’t fix it, but from what I’ve worked on already, I’m very impressed.”

Besides Richardson and Friedle, Emmanuelle Chriqui has been confirmed for an unspecified role on the show via an interview over at Collider. Hmm, we wonder who she’ll play (rolls eyes).

What do you think of the cast so far? Do you think they’ll live up to the hype?
