Let the comic book convention season begin! Before San Diego Comic Con, there’s San Francisco’s WonderCon, which will take place next month. According to a recent announcement, Warner Bros is bringing their latest DC adaptation The Green Lantern to this year’s event. It looks like WonderCon is ready to put a ring on it (pun intended).

The Los Angeles Times is reporting that on “April 1, three stars from the upcoming film Green Lantern will sign autographs for an hour and then take the stage for a panel discussion about the June 17 film.” The buck doesn’t stop there, the studio wants The Green Lantern to leave a lasting impression on the entire WonderCon weekend, so the character will pop up in various incarnations over the course of the convention.

Following the opening day panel, Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps will have a deep and diverse presence throughout the weekend due to the combined efforts of DC Entertainment (DCE) and the various divisions of Warner Bros. Entertainment, including Warner Home Video (WHV), Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment (WBIE) and Warner Bros. Consumer Products (WBCP). WHV will present the World Premiere of the Blu-ray and DVD feature “Green Lantern: Emerald Knights” on Friday evening in the Esplanade Ballroom, immediately followed by a panel discussion featuring filmmakers and voice cast members.

Also on Friday, DC Comics will host a panel about the Green Lantern comic books and the 2011 War of the Green Lanterns crossover event. The DC booth will host Green Lantern-themed signings and giveaways throughout the weekend. WBIE and DCE will showcase “Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters,” an action-adventure videogame that will be available in conjunction with the theatrical release of “Green Lantern.”

The studio has a lot riding on the success or demise of this feature film. They’re hoping it will kick-start a new wave of DC films that could fill the void left by the Christopher Nolan Batman series. They’re also hoping it will give fans a taste of what’s to come with their revamped Superman: Man of Steel property. A new generation is on the rise.

What do you think of The Green Lantern’s heavy presence at WonderCon? Are you attending this year’s festival?
