Everyone is heading to television — literally. In the past decade, some of Hollywood’s most talented actors have left movies to star on the small screen. It’s steady work and steady pay that’s shot at a steady location. The latest thespian to try their hand at TV is Oscar winner Anjelica Huston according to a report from Deadline.

The site claims that Huston will star in a NBC musical series called “Smash” opposite Debra Messing and Christian Borle. When you think musical, your mind probably hops to “Glee” but unlike the Fox juggernaut, this show is a drama. The series centers on “a cross-section of characters who come together to put on a Marilyn Monroe musical on Broadway. Huston will play a shrewd, classy but cynical New York theater producer who is at home with the elite.”

“Smash” will mark Huston’s first regular gig since her guest stint on the supernatural drama “Medium.” Another notable cast member to join the series is former “American Idol” contestant Katharine McPhee.

We wonder if Huston’s producer character will be like Alec Baldwin on “30 Rock” but not hilarious? If anyone can do a snobby, ice queen it’s her. We can’t wait to see this show!

What do you think of Huston coming to television? Will you watch Smash?
