An actress has finally stepped in to break up the male monotony of Jonah Hill, Channing Tatum, and Ice Cube’s 21 Jump Street adaptation. According to Deadline, Scott Pilgrim vs the World star Brie Larson has been cast as the female lead in the feature based on the 80s TV series of the same name.

Coincidentally, Larson just wrapped production on the Oren Moverman drama Rampart, which also stars Ice Cube so this will be a reunion of sorts for the duo. The actress is also known for her work on the Showtime original series “The United States of Tara,” where she plays the daughter of Toni Collette’s character.

Sticking with the theme of the original show, 21 Jump Street will center on a group of cops posing as teens and college students at schools. Cube will play their boss, because he’s no spring chicken. The film will be directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller, and produced by Neil Moritz.

On another note, Tatum recently stated that he and Hill are working tirelessly to get Johnny Depp to make a cameo in the movie. The series launched the actor’s career into super stardom over 20 years ago.

What do you think of Larson joining 21 Jump Street? Is she the right choice?
