Well, well, well, look what we have here. It seems as if the earlier report regarding Australian actress Robin McLeavy landing the role of Mary Todd in Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter was false! According to THR, Scott Pilgrim vs The World star Mary Elizabeth Winstead has been hired for the part instead.
In the script Todd is described as “a petite 20 year old brunette.” Winstead will star opposite Benjamin Walker as Lincoln, Dominic Cooper, and Anthony Mackie. The film will be directed by Timur Bekmambetov. To say that Winstead will be the best we’ve ever seen Mary Todd look is an understatement. It will be interesting to see how she’ll play into the supernatural storyline that thus far centers around a bunch of men.
Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter is a fictionalized creation of the former U.S President which mixes historical events with fantasy. The book was written by Seth Grahame-Smith, who is known for his ability to blend classic figures and properties with old school horror elements. In the book and the film Lincoln is re-imagined as an axe-throwing, highly trained vampire assassin.
Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter is scheduled to hit theaters on June 22, 2012
What do you think of Winstead as Mary Todd?
