Daniel Radcliffe’s post Harry Potter career is really shaping up. As he leaves his Potter glasses and sweaters behind he’ll take on more serious and adult roles. According to Variety, the actor has signed on to star in a film from director Christopher Monger called The Amateur Photographer.

The Amateur Photographer is an indie comedy that centers on “a young man who discovers his artistic calling after being drafted by the denizens of a sleepy little New England mill town to serve as photographer of their most intimate moments. He battles local authorities while bringing a bit of a velvet revolution to the community.” The film is set in the 1970s, which should add an interesting context for the story.

Radcliffe has just wrapped production on the Hammer Films thriller The Woman in Black, and he’s expected to take his final step into the world of Potter entitled Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 this summer on July 15.

It looks like Radcliffe is trying to keep himself busy. We all know how difficult it is to make the transition from a child star in Hollywood.

What do you think of Radcliffe starring in The Amateur Photographer? Is he the right fit for the role?
