Directing brothers Bobby and Peter Farrelly have been hard at work promoting their latest film Hall Pass with Owen Wilson and Jason Sudeikis. At their promo stop in Los Angeles, they spoke at a press conference where they talked about another project they have on the horizon — The Three Stooges. The film, which has had its fair share of ups and downs, is said to be on the fast track to production. According to Bobby Farrelly, casting is underway and the shoot will begin this spring. Here’s what he had to say…

Bobby Farrelly: “We’ve finally gotten it into pre-production. We are going to shoot it a little later this spring. Right now we’re diligently casting it, trying to figure out who the right guys are for it. It’s not an easy job. Even great actors might struggle with those particular roles but we’re looking at everyone. We’ll probably have it cast in about a month or so. We are going to make it and we’re very excited about it.”

The casting roster for the film initially began with Sean Penn, Benicio del Toro, and Jim Carrey. Penn dropped out for personal reasons, Carrey followed, and del Toro was hanging on by a thread. Next there were rumors of Paul Giamatti possibly joining, and later on Johnny Knoxville and Andy Samberg.

For those keeping track, do you notice the drop off of quality actors as the list progresses?
