What started off as a rumor has become a reality. Academy Award winner Julia Roberts has given in to the fairytale trend and will star in the upcoming adaptation of Snow White. No, not Snow White and the Huntsman but Relativity Media’s The Brother’s Grimm: Snow White where she’ll play the Evil Queen! Dun! Dun! Dun!

EW has confirmed that Roberts will star in Snow White, which will directly compete Charlize Theron’s performance as the Evil Queen in Snow White and The Huntsman. The Brothers Grimm version will be directed Tarsem Singh and it will be a 3D adaptation of the story that will be a little darker than what we’re used to seeing. It definitely won’t be the Disney version that we all grew up with.

Roberts appears to be the only solid casting mentioned for Singh’s film. Snow White and the Huntsman already has Theron, Viggo Mortensen and Kristen Stewart in talks to play the Huntsman and Snow White respectively. Relativity really needs to pick up the pace if they’re going compete with Universal’s production. Which version are you the most interested to see?
