Over the past month, a dark cloud has been hovering over the miniseries The Kennedys. The project was originally produced for The History Channel, but shortly after its completion the network decided not to air it. The film was left in limbo and no one, (we mean no one) wanted to pick it up. Luckily for them, another cable network has finally come to their rescue — ReelzChannel.

You might be asking yourself, “Reelz? Really?” Yes, really! The network sent out an olive branch to the series producers and according to a recent announcment they’ve accepted their offer. The film stars Greg Kinnear as John F. Kennedy, Barry Pepper as Robert F. Kennedy, and Tom Wilkinson as the family patriarch Joseph P. Kennedy, and Katie Holmes as Jackie Kennedy.

The Kennedys will air on April 3 in the U.S., and on March 6 in Canada. In an interview with THR, ReelzChannel CEO Stan Hubbard said “he hopes the attention surrounding the project will bring new viewers to his network and help it win carriage from such cable systems as Cablevision and Cox, which currently do not carry the channel. ”

In other words, this has nothing to do with the quality of the content. He’s all about getting exposure, which is something this movie has definitely received a lot of.

What do you think of ReelzChannel picking up The Kennedys?
