Russell Brand has been announced as the newest host of “Saturday Night Live” according to an official press release posted by NBCUniversal. The British comedian will appear alongside musical guest Chris Brown, both of whom will be making their debut appearances on the show. We’re surprised that this is Brand’s first time on that famous SNL stage.
Brand will appear on the February 12th episode, and he’ll have a hard act to follow. This week, SNL alum Dana Carvey will make his return to the show he used to call home many years ago. We’re assuming Brand will be promoting his upcoming film Hop, which is slated to hit theaters on April 1st, as well as the remake Arthur, which opens on April 8th.
Why is he hosting so early to promote spring releases? Perhaps they couldn’t fit him into their busy schedule? It would be great to see Brand or Brown appear in an SNL Digital Short. A lot of the musical guests somehow find themselves embedded in The Lonely Island’s videos. Just last week Nicki Minaj appeared as a “creep.”
Are you excited about Brand and Brown appearing on Saturday Night Live?
