Are you excited to see Channing Tatum do his best period piece acting? No? OK, maybe you need a little help getting warmed up for his latest film The Eagle. It’s directed by Kevin McDonald, and stars Tatum, Jamie Bell, and the great Donald Sutherland. A new behind the scenes featurette has been released, that shows the actors and the director in their element. Check it out…

Doesn’t this film look like a combination of Apocalypto and Centurion? We keep expecting for Michael Fassbender to pop up at some point. And is it just us, or is Mark Strong in everything? We can’t blame him for getting jobs. Get that work Mr. Strong!

The Eagle is set in the dangerous world of second-century Britain. In 140 AD, twenty years after the unexplained disappearance of the entire Ninth Legion in the mountains of Scotland, young centurion Marcus Aquila (Tatum) arrives from Rome to solve the mystery and restore the reputation of his father, the commander of the Ninth. Amongst all the drama, he meets and is accompanied by a British slave named Esca, who will be played by Bell, while Sutherland will come into the picture as Marcus’ uncle Aquila, who has retired in Britain.

The Eagle opens in theaters on February 11, 2011.
