The upcoming season of “Torchwood” will be filled with American actors. Not only is the network moving from the BBC to Starz, but for the first time ever they’re shooting footage on U.S. soil. The last time we checked two Stateside actors had been cast in the form of Bill Pullman and Mekhi Pfifer, now there’s word that another one has joined the party. Say hello to Lauren Ambrose everybody!
According to EW, Ambrose, who appeared on the Showtime series “Six Feet Under,” has joined the growing cast of “Torchwood.” The site claims that she’ll play “a sweet-talking PR genius with a heart of stone who’s just cornered the most important client of her career … and maybe of all time.” Her character’s name is Jilly Kitzinger and she’ll appear in 10 episodes this season.
We wonder if this new infusion of stars will affect the quirky dynamic that “Torchwood” is known for. We hope not, because even though we like Pullman, Pfifer, and Ambrose we love Captain Jack and he needs to remain front and center.
Production on “Torchwood: Miracle Day” began on Monday and the show is expected to debut in July on Starz.
What do you think of Ambrose joining the cast? Are you excited or turned off by all the new additions?
