Marvel has been on a roll this week promoting their upcoming releases. The biggest of them being the first look at Andrew Garfield in their new Spider-Man movie. That film won’t hit theaters until 2012, but Thor and Captain America will open this summer. In the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly, they’ve premiered a new photo from Thor that features a very angry Chris Hemsworth. Check out the full sized image below…

We’re still not sold on this movie. It has a great cast, and a great director but we’re having a hard time supporting it. Perhaps we’ll be pleasantly surprised by what it brings to the table? Thor has always been the odd man out on The Avengers team for various reasons, and we’re not sure if that will negatively or positively affect his solo effort.

Thor centers on a powerful but arrogant warrior whose reckless actions reignite an ancient war. As punishment, Thor is cast down to Earth and forced to live among humans. Once here, he learns what it takes to be a true hero when the most dangerous villain of his world sends dark forces of Asgard to invade Earth.

Thor is scheduled to hit theaters next year on May 6, 2011 and will be in 3D. The film stars Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Stellan Skarsgard, Idris Elba, Jaimie Alexander, and Clark Gregg.

What do you think of the new photo? Are you excited about the film?
