If you grew up during the nineties the name John Dye might strike a chord with you. The actor, who was a regular on the TV series “Touched By An Angel,” has died. According to the Los Angeles Times, Dye was only 47 years old when his dead body was found on Monday in his San Fransisco home.
A cause of death wasn’t immediately known, but Dye’s family is now claiming that he passed from heart failure. When the actor appeared on “Touched By An Angel” he played an angel of death, who helped people get through rough patches in their lives so they could eventually move on. He stated in the past that he loved the character because death is something that people don’t feel comfortable talking about but it’s a fact of life.
“I like the role because death isn’t something we talk about much in America,” Dye wrote in a 1997 compilation of “Touched by an Angel” scripts. “As a nation, we find it difficult to mourn or grieve, labeling tears a sign of weakness. Because of that, Andrew is a rather loud character, helping us face something we would rather ignore.”
It’s so sad to see someone die at such an early age. We’re not sure if the actor had serious health problems in the past but we’ll let you know if we find out anything more.
Valerie Bertinelli, who also appeared on “Angel” with Dye posted this on her Twitter: “Dear, sweet John Dye, rest in peace.”
We think everyone agrees with her sentiment. R.I.P. John Dye.
