Rooney Mara has received an extreme makeover. The typically sweet, chestnut haired actress who appeared in The Social Network and A Nightmare on Elm Street is currently filming David Fincher’s The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. She plays Lisbeth Salandar, a goth-punk, rough around the edges type, who’ll push the actress to her limits. Mara covers the latest issue of W Magazine (February) as the character and exposes more than her fair share of skin on the inside. Take a look…
Mara was chosen as the cover girl for W’s “Movie Issue” which highlights the best films that 2011 will have to offer. The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo is scheduled to hit U.S. theaters on December 21, and co-stars Daniel Craig, Stellan Skarsgard, Robin Wright, Max von Sydow, Christopher Plummer, Joely Richardson, Steven Berkoff, David Dencik and Alexandra Daddario.
The film centers on a middle-aged journalist who joins forces with a private investigator named Lisbeth Salander to solve a missing persons case that’s been open for decades. Craig plays the journalist, who’ll work alongside Mara as the young investigator.
The original Swedish version of the movie became an international phenomenon so we’re excited to see what Fincher will do with the material. He’s got big shoes to fill but if anyone can properly adapt it for domestic audiences it’s him!
What do you think of Mara as Lisbeth? Does she embody the character? Can she pull it off?

My goodness! If this girl ate an M&M, I think it would show as a bulge through her skin.

Ughh i'm tired of americans trying to cash in on something that has already been done and so soon?, I liked the movies but didn't love them but still feel that having them in the language and the country there based on is the way its ment to be.

no, no, no, no. absolutely no. she isn't the right to play lisbeth salander. her face is too soft, and when I watched the trailer, there were already too many facial expressions on her face.

i understand you charlie. american people are lazy. you don't care about apreciating a work of art. hollywood just copy things. all the japanese terror movies and now the best lisbeth. oh, and if you paid attention, and i don't think so, you'll realize that daniel craig looks like michal niqvist, the swedish blomkivist!
