Yes! Michelle Pfeiffer is getting more work. The actress who dominated the eighties and nineties is returning to the big screen. Not only does she have a supporting part in the Garry Marshall rom-com New Years Eve, but she’s just landed a role in Alex Kurtzman’s directorial debut Welcome to People. Michelle is back!

According to EW, Pfeiffer has been cast as Chris Pine’s widowed mother in the film. The drama centers on a man who must deliver $150,000 in cash to an alcoholic sister he didn’t know he had after the death of their father. Without telling her who he is, the guy also gets involved in the life of her angry 12-year old son. Pine stars as the man, while Elizabeth Banks plays his drunk sibling, and Olivia Wilde has been cast in the role of Hannah, the girlfriend of Pine’s character.

Kurtzman co-wrote the screenplay for the film with his longtime collaborator Roberto Orci, who will also help him produce via their DreamWorks-based Paper Products company.

We’re more than a little happy to see Pfeiffer land this part. She’s an amazing actress who deserves the work.
