The Directors Guild of America has announced its nominees for the 63rd annual ceremony. None of the names mentioned come as a shock but there are two very bold, and very obvious omissions. Before we get to the negative, let’s concentrate of those who were chosen for their outstanding directorial skills in 2010. Check out the five lucky helmers below…

This year’s five picks are hard to choose from. Usually there are one or two people you can omit, but that’s not the case here. Every person nominated turned in a solid film and they each have resumes filled with equally great material. There’s a part of us that wants each of them to take home the award but we know that’s not possible!

The big surprise from the Guild comes with the absence of the Coen Brothers who were not nominated for their work on True Grit. They previously won the award back in 2007 for No Country for Old Men.

The DGA will announce the winner of the award on Saturday, January 29.

What do you think of the Directors Guild Nominees? Who do you think will win?
