Relativity Media is about to get Biblical with their adaptation of the famous story of David and Goliath. According to Heat Vision, they’ve hired a director to helm the epic in the form of Exorcism of Emily Rose director Scott Derrickson. Get ready to watch the young man with a sling shot take down an ungodly beast with the help of some modern day special effects.
The script for Goliath was written by John D. Payne and Patrick McKay, but the studio plans to take it and add their own twist. They want to modernize it and give a 300 and The Bourne Identity feel to it. We never knew that either of those films had anything in common. It should be interesting to see what can come out of that combo!
“The story is set in motion when the fierce warrior Goliath is sent to track down a foretold king of the Israelites. A young shepherd David is thrust into an epic chase and adventure fighting for his own life, the lives of his loved ones and eventually the lives of his people. The story climaxes in a battle of literal Biblical proportions between the young man and the giant sent to destroy him.”
Will this all be done with a shaky, hand held camera? And will it feature David in a barely there loincloth?
What do you think of Derrickson directing Goliath? What do you think of the story’s twist?
